You read these kinds of things all the time. The writer of a blog you deign to read in your free time suddenly goes quiet. Those daily updates, those rocking blog posts full of spunk and insight, slow to a thick trickle, and before long a mea culpa appears in your inbox or in a feed.
The writer’s been busy. Work has got the better of them. The blog’s been sidelined.
This is not that kind of post. But this is the kind of post that let’s you know, yes, I’ve been exceptionally busy. Yes, work has got the better of me. But this blog has not been sidelined. In fact, I’ve got a list of great blog posts ready to write. If I could only catch my breath.
I can’t though, because after 9 months of pushing, of pitching, of writing, of talking, of hand-holding and of learning, I am extremely busy. For most of this year, I had just enough clients to keep going, paying my bills with some “ink money,” as someone once said to me. (They were referring to their predilection for tatoos)
And I definitely did not expect to have a busy summer. I figured that businesses wouldn’t be spending money on discretionary items like social media. Man was I wrong!
What are the next steps?
First up is finding someone to work with me. Notice that I said with me and not for me. I don’t want an employee, I want a partner. I want someone who can teach me, who can critique me, who can push me. Because right now, things are hectic in the absolute best way. But I’ll be here. I am right here, staring at a stack of blog post ideas, knowing that I absolutely cannot let this community go to waste.
Because it is this blog that is the base of my operations, the giant white board for my business. This blog is where I ideate, where I brainstorm, where I critique, so that I can begin to fashion to most effective strategies for my clients, never forgetting the essentials that I’ve got to relate to them.

A decrease in supply causes an increase in relative value. People listen more when you speak less. It’s fantastic you have been busy, but not posting as often hasn’t lost you any points in my book. I’m more interested in what you have to say now that I know the opportunity cost of your blogging time has increased.
